Niisi's first herding camp and midsummer

Niisi was 11 weeks old when she was first time in a herding camp a week ago. She had shown interest to sheep already at home but since we had already booked us to a camp (to be honest, I was one to organize the camp) Pertti decided to give Niisi half of Petsu's turns. Petsu, though in good shape for 11 year old, is not exactly young anymore and he seemed not to mind sharing his time with Niisi.

Niisi was doing well in the pen. On Saturday the periods she concentrated were only seconds but on Monday she too a total of 2 minutes session and was focusing a lot to sheep and work. After Monday Kimmo, the coach, said that now Niisi may start to practice self-control now that she has turned on to sheep. Niisi was also thrilled to see her sister Nelli on Saturday. They were playing a lot close to the herding pen and also discovering the world elsewhere, like in the muddy places ;-)

At the end of the camp we had a Ranch competition and Petsu with Pertti took second place. We did not do so well with Tykki, but managed to do most of the course before time ended. We all had good time in the camp and Niisi learned new things additional to herding: camping in a small cottage, sleeping in car crate, socializing with people and dogs,...

Yesterday we had our traditional Midsummer party with traditional friends here and also traditional weather. Yes, it started to rain and rained quite a lot. Luckily we are already used to this and our festival area has nowadays a dry place to eat outdoors :-) Niisi was like a fish in the water with all the dogs, babies and people, but now she has been sleeping most of the day; little puppy...
